    {final exam.png}
    Week of May 30 - June 2
    Tues, 5/30: Article presentations using your Google slide shows. These will go quickly -- you will simply share your slides with the class so we can all learn a little about ongoing complications with gender norms in our culture. We'll discuss the ending of "A Doll's House." Afterward, we'll begin preparing for the final exam by reviewing the 50 vocabulary words and being alerted to grammar review helps. Mr. Gotrik will also be telling you about the Summer Reading program.
    A Doll's House
    Wed, 5/31: Practice an A.P.-style Synthesis essay, which you will be writing Friday.
    Thurs, 6/01: You will have time to choose between the 3 essay topic packets and begin preparing for tomorrow's writing.
    Fri, 6/02 (1:50 release time): Write the Final Exam essay, using the synthesis packet and any outline you have created. The essay is worth 100 of the 175 total Exam points.

    Course description: This course introduces mature students to the movements, themes, and styles developed in recent literature, including written stories, spoken-word pieces, graphic texts, and film. Students read daily and participate in analytical discussions and written reflections. Topics explore the “big-picture” issues facing our world today, such as poverty, globalization, disabilities, and acts of heroism, where students connect what they’ve read to what they already know or wonder about. The key focus of the course is on the ELEMENTS OF NARRATIVE (story-telling).
